I apologize in advance if there is other topic about this but I really couldn't find exact answer.
I have the following configuration: MB: ASUS M4A785D-M Pro AM3 CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 445 SKT Power supply: 500W
Now when I start PC I have an option to press "4" on keyboard to start Asus core unlocker. After I do that PC reboots twice and then it says that 4 cores are activated, but it keeps rebooting (after POST it doesn't start Windows just stays in rebooting loop). I can go to BIOS and there it says that CPU is now "AMD Phenom II X4 B45", but since I cannot do anything I need to load default BIOS values and so it goes back to X3, that is 3 cores instead of 4.
I'm pretty new about this stuff, so I would like to ask should I also do something else in BIOS after using ASUS core unlocker utility so I can use PC and X4 or is it pretty certain to assume that 4th core is defected on this CPU and there is no way to use it?
Thanks in advance.

Well, it may mean that you have a X3 with a defective 4th core..... Stick to the 3 cores..... forget the fourth....
Ok, I thought so but wasn't sure if maybe I'm missing something. Thanks for your reply alyoshka.
I tend to agree. Not all X3's will unlock, unfortunately.
