Looking for $500-$550 Budget Gaming Computer

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: within 2-3 days

BUDGET RANGE: 500-550

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor, Keyboard, Headset, Mouse, Win XP, PSU-Hiper 530W for now(...I do have a Corsair 750W on my other computer that I might eventually swap out),
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817128006&cm_re=hiper_530w-_-17-128-006-_-Product

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: whatever is cheapest

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United States

PARTS PREFERENCES: No preference

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe, not a big deal

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe, not a big deal

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1024x768, 1280x1024

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Don't really care about DVD burner or anything like that as long as it can read dvd/cds. Also HDD size doesn't matter too much. And do I need to get a different HSF or will the one that comes with the processor suffice (my other computers in the past have had too much heat/fan failure)?

Thanks for the help!

Hmm actually at such low resolutions such a gaming config would be fine @$383AR

If that XP is from a previous DIY then it's all good but if off a Dell/HP/Acer u have to nab a new OS

I do agree with the build for that resolution, but my concern is that it might not suffice for the future.

The XP is from a previous DIY so i'm good there. Also I noticed that you have a PSU listed... I already have the HIPER 530W, so should I put the money saved from that to get a better video card or any other item? And is there a need to get a better HSF?
  3. If this is your Hiper
    http://www.hipergroup.com/products.php?lv=3&cate=1&type=30&pid=17&w=1024&h=598
It has really low efficiency and the USA version does not have active PFC Well you could hit a HD 5770 uf u wished
  4. It's this one not that the specs are any different. the type M 530W v2

I still have my corsair 750w back at home that I can eventually swap out with the Hiper if it makes any difference?

So would you recommend that I just buy the OCZ500W and not use the hiper?
  5. Ya if u could swap to that Corsair that would be good ^^
  6. I'm looking at this 5770... can't tell the difference between the two though. Can't really decide which company to go with.

I also opted for the AMD Athlon 445 for a dollar more. Comes out to: 460.93 without shipping. 470.69 with shipping and AR = 429.69

Also batuchka... can the Hiper PSU last me for about 2 months with this setup until I swap out with the corsair? I plan to do some moderate gaming until then.

Let me know what you think so that I can get the parts by tonight
  7. my friend recommended shelling out the extra few bucks to get this hard drive. opinions?

  8. That Raptor is plenty fast but you dont get a lot of storage space. Two Spinpoint f3s would be as fast or faster in RAID and you have more storage.
  9. hmm so should i not get the raptor at all? I could always get another hdd later on if i need it? and do you think the rest of the build is fine? and cant decide which 5770 to go with

That TA785 A2+ u picked out is AM2+/DDR2 so is incompatible with DDR3 RAMs
