Possible Dead Core

I've had an AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition CPU for just over a month or two, I got it late august/early september. I also have an asus motherboard, meaning I've got a core unlocker, it's told me that all 4 cores have been activated up until today, and today it said 3 cores were unlocked. Does this mean that the 4th core died already? I'm going to check in my BIOS as this thread starts so I'll be right back.

So why are you running a core unlocker on a X4 CPU that has no deactivated cores?

I don't know. I guess I'm just a noobie at this after all, it seems that the 3rd core decided to turn it's setting to off for no apparent reason.
Sorry to post so rashly, I guess I'm just terribly new to this.

Is the system listing it as a X3 or X4?
