New SSD Not Recognized

A new Samsung SSD 830 128gb arrived in the mail today and I installed it into the 6gbps HDD slot. I just slipped it in and inserted the rubber piece to keep it in place. When I turned on my computer, I checked the BIOS to see if the drive was recognized but nothing showed up. The drive also doesn't show up in Disk Manager or My Computer. The BIOS is set to AHCI. Can anyone help with this?

I am using a Valkyrie CZ-17 with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It has a custom motherboard with an AMI BIOS.

  1. Is the new SSD installed in the SATA 1 port? Also, see if it shows up with it set as IDE in the BIOS.
  2. Do you have the chance to insert your drive into another PC, or USB case?
  3. Is this the Correct laptop?

If so the drive should be fully compatable with the laptop.
For best rsults BIOS should be set to AHCI.
I would first check the drive as mad-max79 suggested. A cheap sata->usb cable would work.
If the drive does not work on usb port then I'd be thinking about RMA.
.. Just a caution, with cold weather and VERY low relative humidity, you have to be careful that you do not Zap the SSD with static electrical charge (ESD) - ie do NOT put hands close to connctor pins.
