Final build for $650-$700 gaming computer Tags: New Build Systems Product Last response: August 17, 2010 2:01 AM in Systems Share mar2010 August 15, 2010 5:02:38 PM OK, here is my final build. Not sure if Ram is compatible with mobo. APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: today BUDGET RANGE: $600-$700 SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming - crysis, fear 2, dead space, writing, java programming. PARTS NOT REQUIRED:keyboard, mouse, monitor. PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg or cheaper COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD at this price point. Would like to avoid biostar mobo (see comments) OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: probably should buy a new monitor first so no MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024, ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I have worked out the following build. Biostar mobo's seem to have low reputation and the micro atx form factors don't have many PCIe slots for expansion (like USB 3) so I'd prefer to avoid them. At higher resolutions, 1 GB memory is a must depending on the games you are going to play. Also, that memory kit has CAS latency of 9. Most people usually get 8 or above. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $91 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $96 The mobo is fine. mar2010 August 15, 2010 8:54:04 PM Thanks for the reply. I'll think about going higher for the 460 1 gb version, though I'd prefer not to. Changing memory means breaking up the combo with the case. How important is CAS latency to performance? Would this be a good case? NZXT GAMMA Classic Series GAMA-001BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... It doesn't make much for a difference but since the prices are so close together, most people usually buy a low CAS latency memory kit. The NZXT Gamma is a nice, cheap case. It should be fine. You can add more fans to it later if you want. Just make sure to clean out the dust every once in a while. spentshells August 16, 2010 5:04:56 AM +1 on the Gamma I have it mar2010 August 16, 2010 7:19:01 PM Hi all, I decided to get a 1 GB GTX 460, and also changed the PSU and upgraded the HD to the 1 TB model. Could not bring myself to get the Cas 7 RAM, just a little more than I wanted to spend. Thanks all for your help! kageryu August 17, 2010 2:01:42 AM Glad we could help. Can't find your answer ? Ask !
