Question on PSU :P

Ok quick questions guys:

I was wondering if it was possible to use a second power supply to power two graphics card individually (installed on the motherboard) without having the psu plugged into the motherboard or will it not work since it needs the power to be regulated by the board? (or what not?) lol.
