Building New Midranged System, need input and advice

Hello, steady visitor to the site but first time member for the forums. I hope this is in the right section.

I am planning to build a system quite soon and needed some input and advice before purchase the remaining parts I need. I plan to do some gaming on it, and video transcoding. I will only turn on this system to do those two things. I've built many system before but never a AMD built and I've never done RAID which I plan to do, more on that later.

List of Parts I have/plan to get :
CPU - AMD Athlon II X4 620 : I received this CPU as a gift a last Christmas so will plan to use this instead of buying a new one.

I want to be future proof so I felt getting USB 3.0 and SATA3 was the right choice. I also plan to use the IGP (I know it sucks, 4290) or reuse my 3870 card until ATI's new card came out. I was planing to buy a 5770 then another for Crossfire but then I read that ATI plans to release their new series in November along with a price drop for the 5000 series. If the new series don't perform well, price dropped 5770s would be sure bet.

Ram - G-Skills DDR3-1600 4GB (2x2GB) : I also got these as a Christmas gift. I said I was going to built a new system back then so my friends got them for me because I said I wanted these but haven't had a chance to build one till now.

HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

On sale right now for $60 so want to jump on it.

SSD - 2x Intel X25-V Sata 40GB : I got these when they were on sale at Newegg for $80 each. I plan to RAID 0 them but I have no idea what to do. Would it be best to just use 1 as boot so I can have TRIM and use my 1TB drive as storage or RAID them still? If I do RAID, will I need anything? I read something about RAID controllers and what not. If it is the best idea, can someone link me to a good guide I can follow? Thanks.

PSU - PC Power and Cooling 750W PSU : Reusing my power supply from my X38 built.

CPU Cooler - ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler

I do plan to OC a bit, most likely from the stock 2.8 to 3.2-3.5. I hear the stock cooler is fine for an OC of that amount but I like to play it safe.

PC Case - COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

I like the case design plus red LEDs. It has favorable reviews plus it is on sale right now at Newegg for $60 for the next 5 hours as I type this, lol.

I am reusing my DVD burner and plan to install Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate. Keyboard, mouse and speakers I already have, going to use a KVM switch to use the same for both PCs.

Anything I should add or swap out? Thanks for the feedback.

  1. Looks surprisingly on spot. CPU/GPU need an upgrade but you've chosen compatible parts so that's just a waiting game until nextgen.

    Seems good to me.
