NEED HELP! my pc wont boot a new 5970!

Hi, I just got an ati powercolor radeon 5970 gpu and a new psu which is an OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular.

I upgraded from an asus 8400gs silent. I uninstalled its driver then rebooted. I then switched off my pc and installed the 5970

But now it doesnt show the motherboard logo and it only gets to the windows loading bar and then blank.

So why is this happening?

My pc specs are.

CPU – Intel i5 750
Motherboard – ASUS P7P55D LE
RAM – G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (2x2GB) DDR3
PSU – OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular
GPU – powercolor radeon 5970

Could it just need a bios update?

Really appreciate your help and replies.

Many thanks.

  1. You did the change of gpu well, yeah my guess would be to update bios, actually, i got that when i switched from 9600 gt to gtx 460. So my guess, update the bios-
  2. I updated it and I guess it made it work, because it will display on my brothers screen (without drivers). But something weird is up with my monitor, as i said it just shows the windows logo then nothing. It's still doing this with the updated bios. But my guess is my screen wont work without the ati drivers being installed, or i need to buy a dvi-vga converter and use that, or that my screen just wont work when I convert dvi-hdmi.
  3. There isnt anything wrong with th screen itself, my guess , only cable may be corrupt-
Yeah you could try with a dvi- vga cable.
  4. Ty for your replies but I found a solution. It's not the screen or the graphics card, it's just the lack of drivers, it needs drivers to display in HDMI.
  5. Also - The cable and the converter isn't broken. I know this because I have two cables which I both used on my xbox slim, and my bro is using the converter on his xbox atm, they both work fine.
