In terms of fantasy style books, I think the Riftwar books, and the Death Gate books would be cool to see on the screen. I think they're like 2-3 times as long as Lords of the Bling, so I don't think that would work too well.
In terms of other books, how bout "A Brief History of Time." Har har har, I'm a f ucking nerd.

It might be a good movie.
I know there are so many good books that can be made into good movies.Besides Stephen Kings, or John Grishams.
Hopefully we will get more responses. How about Childhoods end? by Arthur C Clark.
I want Dune to be remade.
God Emperor of Dune could be a great movie too
I haven't read the Riftwar series yet.
Damn Robert Jordan is stringing me along grrr Bob
Bob
HA HA, WOT series as a movie. Jordan is on, what his tenth book now? Each one a billion pages long. If LOTR took 4 years to make, how long will WOT take?
I liked the books up untill the 6th or seventh one, now it's just like
'Oh my god! that is SUCH a sexy dress'
*A female character SNIFFS and thinks about her NECKLINE*
'Dont' we have to do something'?
*A female character SNIFFS and thinks about her NECKLINE*
'Yeah, but it can wait a couple more books...'
Childhood's End was good, and I think it would make a good movie. I think it's a little too weird for most people though, and most people just wouldn't get it and would think it's stupid.
Slaughterhouse 5 would be interesting too, but again I don't think it's mainstream enough to be made.

That's a great idea. Then UAT students could just watch the movie instead of having to read the book for their 300-level English class.
On a more thread-related note, I was thinking Into Thin Air, by John Krakauer, about the big Everest disaster. (haven't heard of that being made into a movie yet, anyway)
Just thought of something. Patricia Wrede's books(the 'talking to dragons' ones) would make a great kids movie in the right hands. I thought the books were way above the whole shmarry potter series...
LOL yes Jordan is taking his friiggin time isn't he?
But the first books are very good.
I think each book could be a movie by itself.
At least up to "Fires of Heaven"
Probably the last 6 to 10 books(wearever it stops) could be 1 movie I am not sure if Jordan is just really setting up the ending or trying to makes as much money as possible because he doesn't have any other ideas for more books.
Bob
I have no idea what any of those books are, so I nominate UML in a nutshell.

I'd like Tim Burton to direct a series of shorts based on some of Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories. Burton would perfect to get the mood of them. The Birthmark and Young Goodman Brown come to mind.
