Newbie Trying to Build a Machine Need Advise Please!!!!

So I'm trying to build my first machine, I want to do some gaming and something that will last me for a while. I wanted to spend $1600 total....

I have no real interest in overclocking and since this is my first machine I took some part ideas from some other builds I've seen. Any Advice on whether this machine will work well or is compatible would be fantastic and here is what I have so far:


Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R = $210

Processor: i-7 950 = $277.5

CPU Cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B = $62

Memory: Crucial 6GB DDR3-1333 Triple-Channel Kit 3 x 2GB (6GB Total), CAS 9-9-9-28 = $170

Graphics : GeForce GTX 470 GV-N470D5-13I-B in SLI = $310 (I would eventually like two of these maybe....)

SSD Drive: 40GB Intel® X25-V SATA Solid State Drive = $95 (I want to try this out and put the OS and such on it)

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive = $60

Optical: Lite-On iHas124 = $20

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion = $70

Power: Corsair 650TX = $80

Monitor: ???????

Total: $1354.50
