Hello,
i'm rather new when it comes to upgrading my computer, rather.. knowing anything about its actual contents, until my graphics cards shat the bed.. i currently have 2 Visiontek ATI HD4850 512MB PCI-E graphics processor's. My motherboard is an Asus 790fx m3a32-mvp deluxe motherboard, i am currently thinking i would like to purchase a GeForce GTX 480, is this compatible with my motherboard? also would this be a good graphics card to get in the first place?

I would check your power supply specs when changing cards. Newer high end ones will list the wattage requirements. I try to use antec, corsair, seasonic, or enermax ps with high end systems. And be sure your ps has the connection for your new card. Most new cards will work with your asus board. The pci-e 2.0 standard is backwards compatable with newer 2.1 cards.
