I can't figure out how to get my CPU out of my Compaq Presario
motherboard. The CPU socket has a couple of rectangular white plastic
"thingees" on opposite sides of the socket. They have small slots in
them, but neither of them seems to want to move at all. There must be
some way to release the tension on the pins. Anyone know how?

The pic is upside down. The CPU slides over about 3/16". You get it to
slide by putting a small flat screwdriver in the white slot. Not the
small ones for working on a PC but a small regular screwdriver. One
that fits perfectly in the slot is best. This is a ZIF socket. Zero
insertion force. So when you slid it the right amount the CPU comes
right out. When putting the new one on you must use thermal grease the
size no bigger than 1/4 grain of cooked rice.
