I have a 9800 GX2 and two months ago one of its cores stopped registering on my screen. It was clearly not running because the temperature was noticeably lower. A week ago the core randomly started working again and the temps went up, but I think at the same time EVGA precision lost control of fan speed (I am not sure about EVGA being related). About two days ago it went back to having one core again, and EVGA precision regained control of fan speed again. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I do not recall doing anything differently when the core shut down or came back on. The SLI options in the Nvidia control panel dissapeared when one of the core's did, so that's not the problem.
I tried multiple drivers for the GX2 and I always monitored the temp as best I could. I usually would run the fan speed at 100% to keep the temp as low as possible.
Let me know if I can provide any more information, I really don't know where to start. Please help.
