Hitachi XT/To haed drive fails to start under Windows 7

Hello,
My Hitachi 3TB/To external hard drive is not recognized by the Windows USB mass storage device driver some times. It is not recognized more often than it is recognized. The windows Trouble Shooter tries to reinstall the device driver, but usually fails. Any suggestions?

Have you tried contacting the tech support for the external drive ?
