gateway solo problems

Hi,
I have Gateway Solo 2550.
Its 500Mhz 128mb...
The battery is dead, and when i insert it, the comp thinks its in battery
power, and thus shuts down immediatly. If i remove the battery, i see the
indicator that shows it is plugged to AC. Then the computer works.

The lcd screen is very very good condition, and very bright, but after a
while the screen start flickering, its like the electricity is shutdown for
a moment and then come back.
