Sapphire Radeon 5770 replacement suggestions

So yea.. The first one I received was DOA, so I returned it, got this one. It worked for a total of 6 days then nothing but a black screen now. I am completely fed up with this. After looking online it seems alot have issues with the 5770 doing this. So I think I'm going to RMA it for a refund. I spent 170 dollars on this and the card was amazing. Anyone suggestion on what a good replacement card would be that would give me the almost same power of the 5770? Maybe a GEforce this time? I'm wanting it primarily for gaming but around 200 dollar price range or less.

  1. You can get a GTX 460 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130562 for about 200 or a

    HD 5830 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878

Are you OCing your CPU ? sometimes when i oc my cpu i get black screens on the video and have to reset the cmos, i think its more to do with me forgeting to turn off sleep mode when OCing it sometimes wont come out of sleep.
  2. No my computer isnt OC at all. The black screen just came out of nowhere and now I cant get a signal on that card at all to my monitor. REboot, nothing. But the computer is still loading windows so it has to be the card.
  3. Ok so no OCing, was your PC setup to go into sleep mode ? try to reset the cmos pull your battery out of the mobo for 2 mins then put it back in and try to boot.
  4. Its set up to go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of idle, would that really cause it to not work? My onboard works fine still.
  5. I have a HD 5850 and have had this problem with my screen going black nothing would work untill i reset the bios, its worth a try then just set a screen saver and when done with the pc turn it off.
  6. just look in your mobo manual on how to reset the cmos

lol i ment the GTX 460 i have it posted but typed 260 :)
  9. Ok I did what you asked... The card actually worked for a few seconds then everything froze up it seemed. I think I'm done trying and done with Radeon if this is the experience I'll have.

    Is this a good card?

I might just wait and get that if it is. BTW My power supply is a 600 watt, would it be enough to handle that card? it says minimum 550, but not sure
  10. I would get the GTX 460 instead. The 465 is only 6-7% faster and costs $50 more while using significantly more power.

  11. Really? How does the 460 rate up there with the 5770? I thought the 465 would of been better with it being 1 gig and 256 bit
  12. I think the GTX 465 is on par with a HD 5830

What rez and games do you play ?
  13. I play some of the newer games, graphically intense Final Fantasy XIV for one. This 5770 played it beautifully. I play on max 1280x1024. Also Crysis, was running it on highest settins with no problem with that 5770. Would the 460 play Crysis on highest settings?

The GTX 460 is about 20% faster than the HD5770. The GTX 465 is better, by about 6-7% like I said, but it's not worth the $50 extra. There actually is a 256 bit 1gb version of the GTX 460 that performs very similarly to the GTX 465 but it is also $30 more and seems to be in very limited supply at the moment and sold out everywhere; possibly purposely so people will buy the excess stock of GTX 465s. The GTX 460 I linked would still be the better value anyway imo.
  15. At that rez IMO a GTX 460 would play crysis just fine on high settings

  16. ^+1 For GTX 460 i think Nvidia has a real winner with this one.
