Planning a RAID

OS: Win 7 64 bit
MB: Gigabyte EP45C-UD3R (on board Gigabyte raid and Intel controller)
Current config: Software RAID 1 on Intel controller (degraded from failed drive)

Desired config: 2 new drives using Gigabyte hardware RAID 0. Old drive will be used for backup.

My plan: Remove old drive and setup RAID 0 drives. Install old drive and copy contents to new RAID 0 drives.

Me: I just know enough about this stuff to be dangerous. I think if I copy the disk over, it will copy the software RAID info and still think it's a degraded RAID.

So... I'm looking for ideas on how to accomplish this.

Thanks.
