AMD Athlon II X2 255:

AMD Phenom X4 9750: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...

I'm building a computer and I'm wondering which is better, since I don't know much about processors.

I am a gamer, I play both casually and hardcore. Both are the same price, but I was wondering which would be better for gaming. I would have chosen a better processor, but I'm on a budget, so if you can suggest a better one, keep it around the price of the ones I listed.

Best solution

a c 78 à CPUs
a b À AMD

First Welcome to THGF

To answer you question, the X2 255 is the better CPU for gaming, also it is on the newer platform (AM3) that can utilize DDR3 memory. Here is a comparison of both CPU's.

For some games, the quad core would be best, for others high clocked dual core. It will depend on which games you are planning to play.
