Hello,
I have a HP M8330f Media Center with a AMD Phenom 9500 2.2Ghz on this board and want to upgrade the CPU. I am thinking of using the AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz.
I am running Windows 7 professional.

My questions are: 1)Will the AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz work with my MOBO? 2)Is there better CPU to use with my system? 3)What will have to be done after changing the CPU? Will the bios have to be upgraded, what about the OS, will I have to reload or will it work with all my files remaining intact?

Thanks, John

If you look at the cpu upgrade information in your link it is not an option.

Thanks for all the reply's. I guess I was hoping that one of the newer higher performance CPU's could be used. I am not having any problems with the TBL bug. I am just looking for more speed.

Fixed the link above but here again http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en...
It is the narra5 but it is still a M2N68-LA and has AM3 support!

Thanks for looking into all this for me. Now if I am getting this right an AM3 can fit in a AM2+ socket?

Yes they are socket compatible. The AM3 cpu has both DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller therefore it will run in both platforms as long as there is BIOS support.
