Can this motherboard handle the new generation video cards equipped with the gddr5 memory. I would also like to know if this board will support ati video cards

your board will handle any PCI-E 2.0 or 1.0 card. you would need to check the asus web site to see if it can handle 2.1 cards. It may need an updated BIOS for that.
you can run an ATI card in your board, assuming it meets the above standards, but you can not run them in crossfire (the ATI version of SLI)
