Z68 vs. P67 (SSD Caching or not)

I am building a new rig and need to decide whether or not I wont to spend the extra $40ish on a Z68 motherboard.

I will be using a 60GB SSD and a 2TB HDD.

SSD: OCZ Agility 3- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227725

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136792

Would I be better off installing the OS and most used applications on the SSD and putting everything else on the HDD or would it be better to use the SSD as cache for the HDD? Which setup would be faster?

Your faster setup is going with the SSD as the OS and most used apps. Using the SSD to cache the hard drive will help in performance but no where near a SSD by itself.

I won't pay the extra money for the Z68, unless you plan to use some of the features specific to the board (outside of cache, such as Quick Sync...). The only one I would pay extra for is the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z since it is only $10 more...
  2. If the SSD as the OS and most used applications is much faster, then I will definitely go with that. Thank you.
