I/o device error (0x8007045d) when backing up to seagate

First system image creation attempt on a new Windows 7 (Lenovo A720). Trying to create system image on a Seagate Expansion Desktop Drive. I receive the message:
One of the backup files could not be created. 0x8078002A.
This request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (0x8007045D)
Thanks for any thoughts on this
