System doesn't turn on

Hi all,

I have built a system for myself which has this problem that it can't turn on sometimes. I would press the power button and the fans will rev up for a second just to turn off after that. The system will remain off until I press the power button again to turn it on just to see the same thing happen. It will happen for a while until the system just turns on.

It has also happened a few months ago and when I opened the system I saw that my heatsink had a few screws which seem to touch the casing. Since then I used the provided rubber under that and it seemed for work fine until now when it just decided to do this again!

I would really appreciate if you guys could guide me on some general debug steps.

I have experienced that symptom with bad PSU and bad CPU.
Also, sounds like you might have a blown capacitor either on your MB or PSU.

Before making a rash decision replace your CPU fan as that may be a dud, Or apply more thermal paste

Found out, it was a problem with the MB. Replaced it and it works fine!
