I have a Toshiba 1TB usb external drive. My laptop will not recognize the external drive when I plug it it to the usb. I have plugged the drive into 3 other computers and each of those computers does recognize the external drive. When I check the device manager it see the toshiba drive and indicates that the drivers are up to date. Why can't I see the drive on my computer?

Your Windows has probably failed to assign a drive-letter to it. Go here:
Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

In the bottom-right panel, find the ribbon which relates to your external drive (it will have no name, no letter, and my be labelled as "RAW").

Right-click that ribbon and choose "Change Drive Letter & Paths".
Click "New"
Choose a letter.
Click 'OK'
