Hey all.

I know this will sound like a real n00b, but can I easily turn a Pentium 133MHz into a router(haven't really looked at what the rest of the system specs are besides that, I have a lot of old 72pin SIMMs for the thing that I am sure I can max the memory out to 128MB)? I don't think really need a firewall as it will already be behind another hardware router/firewall. If you can point me to a guide instead of typing that would be great instead of wasting more of your time. Thanks!

For an old PI 133 machine I would look into this software: IP COP
There are guides on how to install/use it on the site.

There are several linux or *BSD based routers/firewalls that run off a floppy and don't need more than 4MB of RAM. Just do a google search for it and pick the one you like.

About the only one I've found that I like is Coyote Linux. Do you have any other suggestions?

I looked into the system and it has 32MB of RAM, P133, and 2GB HD and Win 95 currently installed. I put two PCI 3COM 3C905TX NICs in the computer also. I have others if needed.

Personally I'd suggest at least trying m0n0wall - it should work great

Electrical engineers do it with less resistance

MOnOwall and coyote are both good. I am currently using the LRP floppy. Linux Router Project is abandoned, but works quite well with older hardware. I have also used fdgw which is also good.
