I was looking to upgrade the storage in my system, but I am torn between the WD Velociraptor 500gb ($80) or the OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128gb (75$) This drive is not for holding my OS (I already have OS on SSD), but instead it is for holding games and important apps. Would the SSD have a noticeable performance gain? or should i get the velociraptor and get an extra 380gb or so storage.
SSDs win hands down. It'll have a VERY significant performance increase, as well as HUGE reliability gains. I know for a drive for installs that's not as important, but velociraptors have a liking to failure.
