Hello,

I have a dual Xeon.
There are 6*2Gb Dimms installed on CPU2 channel and it detects 12Gb memory.
I tried to put 3 of these on CPU1 channel but it didn't recognize those. I was trying to put them symmetrical to CPU2 so it becomes dual channel memory.
It says in Bios that CPU1 memory frequency is n/a
Furthermore these DIMMS are DDR3-1333MHz but bios runs them as 1066MHz in automatic mode. I have to force it to 1333.

Here are the specs:
•SUPERMICRO, X8DAi, LGA1366 /2, Intel® 5520, 6.4 GT/s QPI, DDR3-1333MHz ECC/UECC 96GB /12
•INTEL, 2 x Xeon™ E5520 Quad-Core Processor 2.26GHz, LGA1366, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 8MB L3 Cache

Please help! Is there something in bios that needs to be set to use CPU1 memory too?
Or is there some sort of jumper on motherboard to enable CPU1 memory?

Thanks a lot,
Sep

Dual channel should be slot 1 and slot 3 and then slot 2 and slot 4 That is the way mine is setup. Are all your dimms the same speed? if not the 1333 will run at the slower 1066 speed also it is better to use matched sets in each channel.

Thanks for the reply. All my memory DIMMs are the same.
My first question is why the DIMMS don't work on SPU2 channel of slots?
I have total of 12 slots. 6 for CPU1 and 6 for CPU2
