hmm funny part of me wants 2 gtx460's and a amd board and cpu but i just want a good rig that will last 3 or more years

what do you guys think

You would be able to keep your case if you went for the 2x GTX 460 option. Also, what about removing the upper harddrive cage?

That RAM is a no, as you can get the same RAM for much cheaper on scan, or RAM with the same specs for cheaper on ebuyer. Or this 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator, DDR3 PC3-12800(1600), CAS 7-8-7-20, XMP, DHX CMP6GX3M3A1600C7 £147. Even this is worth £20 over that CAS8 Dominator set: G.Skill PI Series 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz CAS 6-8-6-20-2N 1.60v F3-12800CL6T-6GBPI £169.

I think if I was spending that much on a PSU, I'd get one from the semi-fanless Seasonic X series.

yes i can keep my case if it dosnt get too toasty in there definitely will get the momery fron scan thankyou. any advice on a cheeper psu ?

If you go for the 2x GTX 460 option and if you aren't going to OC your GPUs then I'd suggest this: XFX 650W XXX Edition 80Plus Bronze Modular £70. If you are going to OC your GPUs then a 750W PSU would be enough, probably even one with only ~670 watts on it's 12V rails: Antec Earthwatts 750w £84.
Other good 750W PSUs:
SilverStone Strider ST75F-P 80Plus Silver
SilverPower Gorilla SP-SS-750M 80Plus Silver
Antec Truepower New TP750 80Plus Bronze
XFX 750W Black Edition 80Plus Silver.

If you're going to go with a 5970 then I'd suggest one of these:
SilverStone ST85F-P 850W 80Plus Silver
XFX 850W Black Edition 80Plus Silver
Corsair HX850 80Plus Silver
Antec Signature 850W 80Plus Bronze
Obviously you could go for a lower wattage unit if you don't intend to ever add a second one.

I'm not clear on whether you still want a new case or not, but if you do then check out the Antec 900, 1200 and Cooler Master HAF 922. I believe they all have dust filters and you'd be hard pressed to find anything better for air cooling.
