I have a laptop that is running ddr2 400mhz and i was wondering if i could put ddr3 gskill 1333 8gb into it (link to the gskill ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231342&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL070111&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL070111-_-EMC-070111-Index-_-LaptopMemory-_-20231342-L01D)

Just to check, what exact Notebook do you have?

Yes, if you ARE 'keeping' any old RAM, you don't want RAM faster or slower or different than what is already installed it must be the same {Frequency, CAS, and Voltage}.

IF you're NOT keeping ANY old RAM then you're confined to whatever DDR2 your Notebook 'supports' i.e. most DDR2 Notebooks, that I can think of, don't support 8GB individual sticks, and some are capped-off as low as 1GB/stick which is why you must verify before buying any RAM -- compatibility ;)
