So I just built my first ever system, worked fine the first time, so I was pretty proud. I went through and have been running RealTemp to see how it's holding up, and it seems to be idling really high temps (45-52c) and it says when i put it through some stress test that it went up to 79!!!..... Kinda scares me!

Yes I put thermal paste on, is it possible I put too much on? All the fans seem to be working on the case/gpu/cpu... Anything I should check??

Here's my build:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
RAM: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
PSU: XFX Black Edition P1-750B-CAG9 750W
GPU: GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB (x2 SLI)
Case: Thermaltake Element G VL10001W2Z Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
CPU: Intel i7-930 running at 2.94ghz bclk140mhz
Cooler: Hyper 212 Plus Universal CPU Cooler

Thanks!

those are normal temps and 79 C on load is slightly low, it isn't bad for the i7 and the fermi

don't worry and nice build btw

Yea? Hmm. I was just reading some other forums and got freaked out. Thanks for the reassurance, I'm going to reapply the thermal paste anyway, I know I put too much on :) .

I reapplied the thermal paste and now I'm getting mid-60's under full load
