Just bought SSD - What can I expect? Tags: Hard Drives SSD Storage Avaryan November 24, 2012 3:30:49 AM I just bought a 120 GB SSD about an hour ago, this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite... Only paid $59.99 & $0.00 S/H. I was running a Seagate Momentus XT; which is a Hybrid drive. How much an improvement should I expect to see in loading times? And in general performance overall? Allegedly I should be capable of read speeds of up to 500 Mbps. HD Tune gave my previous drive a maximum speed of around 140-150 Mbps. I'll be doing a fresh install of Windows 7, possibly Windows 8 if I can get around to that.
