I was wondering since motherboard supports SLI and CrossfireX and it has 3 PCI Express X16 lanes,if i could do crossfireX with three cards from Radeon or only 2.Thats the part that worries me the most.I have HD6970 crossfireX but havent used the 3rd slot yet even though i have another graphics card.

At least i get SLI and CrossfireX support and specs are First at X16, Second at 8X and Third at 4X

CrossfireX supports GPU's that have the same architecture, and in the 6970's case, that's cayman architecture. (6990 not included) and can be quad crossfire'd. but you can only use your other card if its a 6950/6970. otherwise, the architecture is different, and the crossfireX won't work. but why you need that much GPU power is questionable. that much will probably last you 10 years lol. however, using 4X may actually reduce speeds due to the immense bottleneck that the power is going through. I'd stick with just 2 cards. Hope this helped.
