Installing Windows 8

Hi,
I was trying to install windows 8 through USB made through "Microsoft USB/DVD Download Tool" and during boot after windows logo,i got an error :"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to be restarted".
I tried it on two separate PC ,1 notebook and 1 desktop, but getting error on both.
Is my hardware incompatible or there is some other problem?
My machine's config. is:
Intel Core I3 2.27Ghz
4 GB RAM
320 GB HDD
Intel HM55 Chipset.
Please Help!

Hi jatin21,

First, make sure that your USB pen drive should be minimum of 8 GB or higher. Second, are you sure that you have created bootable Windows 8 pen drive properly. If you are all OK with both then you can try the method given below.
1. Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.
2. Make sure that a USB flash drive with minimum 8 GB of space or higher.
3. Also ensure that Windows 8 installation media is inserted into the optical media drive. Alternatively an ISO image of Windows 8 can also be used.
4. Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop.
5. Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner.
6. From the displayed options, click Search.

1. Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.

5. Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner.
6. From the displayed options, click Search.
7. From the Search pane in the right, make sure that Apps category is selected.
8. In the Apps field, type CMD.
9. From the displayed results on the Apps window, right-click Command Prompt.
10. From the displayed advanced options at the bottom, click Run as administrator.
11. On User Account Control confirmation box, click Yes to provide administrative consents to open Command Prompt with the elevated privileges.
12. On the opened Command Prompt window, type DISKPART command, and press Enter.
13. On DISKPART prompt, type LIST DISK and press Enter.
14. From the displayed result, view the available hard disks attached to the computer.
a. Note: The sequence of the disks may change according to the hard disks or removable disks attached to the computer.
15. Then, type SELECT DISK 1 and hit Enter. (Where DISK 1 is the USB flash drive that is to be used to boot and install Windows 8, in this demonstration)
16. Then, type CLEAN command and press Enter to clean the selected disk.
17. Once cleaned, type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY command and hit Enter.
18. Then, type ACTIVE command and press Enter.
19. Once done, type FORMAT FS=NTFS command and press Enter to initiate formatting the created partition with NTFS file system.
20. Once formatting process completed successfully, type ASSIGN and press Enter.
21. Then, type EXIT to exit from the DiskPart utility.
22. Once done, type F:\BOOT\BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 H: command, and press Enter to make the flash drive bootable. (Where F is the drive letter of Windows 8 installation DVD or ISO image mounted on a virtual CD/DVD drive, and H is the drive letter of flash drive that is to be made bootable)
23. Then type EXIT to close the Command Prompt.
24. Copy entire contents of the Windows 8 installation DVD or ISO image, and paste to the bootable 3.0 flash drive.
25. Once done, restart the system, and enter into BIOS.
26. In the BIOS menu, modify the BIOS settings to make the computer to boot from USB removable drive support.
27. Once done, press F10 to save the BIOS settings, and restart the computer.
28. As system restarts, follow on-screen instructions thereafter to install Windows 8 from USB flash drive.

Assuming you have a Windows 8 Upgrade ISO and a valid Product Key, prepare your USB device with YUMI
(Scroll down to the 'Download YUMI' in blue, ignore the 1st download button..)
Run the App and point it to your W8 ISO
If you don't have an ISO you can still download it if you have a valid Upgrade Product Key...
