Ide converter to sata problem

i have this 40 gb ide hdd from my old pc. i want to use it for my new pc for my sata hdd on it broke. i bought a ide to sata host adapter. bios detect my ide. i repartitioned it smoothly with win 7 ultimate installation, yet it could not format the new partition. error "cant format partitioned popped up. pls help me. i need to use this hdd before i can by a new sata hdd. do i need a driver for the adapter?

It's not a driver issue, if it was you wouldn't have been able to re-partition it. Inability to format a partition is often a sign that the drive is failing. The only way to confirm that is by testing it with the manufacturer's diagnostic software. The links are here:

Thanks pil22, you're right. something wrong with my ide mbr, thus wrong with the partition. i got it run now...and could saved my old data...
