Hi guys. I just built a new system and was wondering what CPU cooler is compatible with these hardwares. I heard there are clearance issues if you are using ASUS mobos+vengeance ram that most CPU Coolers won't fit. I also heard the z68 extreme4 has better space between the CPU and the Ram slots. I am planning to OC my CPU around 4.6-4.7ghz 24/7.

Budget is > $100 which includes the fans if it needs to be replaced.

Mobo - Asrock Z68 Extreme4
CPU - Intel 2500k
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2 x 2gb
VC - Asus 560 Ti DirectCU 2
PSU - XFX 750 Core

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply mate. Since this is the last part that I am missing, I would like to maximize my budget. I would like to get a better one which would be more superior than the 212.

You might think about the Corsair A70, though it's big and can be a pain to install correctly using the provided thermal interface material (TIM) due to its viscosity. You can use any TIM you want, though, to make things easier.

You might also consider the following RAM, as the first one together with the A70 may still fit your cost budget and build dimensions:

Here's my build and clearances, it's close, but um plenty of room to spare ;):

Or if you're feeling adventurous, you might try the H70 and go nuts with as large RAM + RAM coolers as your case can handle:

@markmywords

Thanks for your suggestion. As for the ram, I already have a corsair Vengeance. And the H70 costs around $125 here so its already out of my budget. I am aiming for the Thermaltake Frio as it already has 2 nice strong fans on it and If I will be comparing it to the Hyper 212 + and let us say a same cfm fan, it would only be a $5-10 difference only.

I am also wondering (cause I cannot find the link anymore) whether Asrock has a bigger space between the 2nd ram slot and the cpu compared to its competitors. I found a screenie which shows a seem to be Gigabyte Motherboard (I am not sure whether its Z68) and a thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler touching the Ram. If the Extreme4 really has bigger space even by just 3mm, I think there will be no problem.

What do you guys think?
