Just finished upgrading my computer to the AMD Phenom X6 and 890G Motherboard. I have a fairly recent 512MB Radeon 4850 card. Looking for an upgrade in the $200 range. I have come up with a Nvidia GTX 460 or Radeon 5770. Are those what I should be looking at and if so, which it the better choice? thanks in advance!

(PS, I'd like a card with a default fan that is pretty quiet if possible)

Get an HD5770 considering you have a Crossfire motherboard. Add another one in a few months.

His board isn't necessarily crossfire. It may only have a single slot.

5830 if it can fit your case, and don't mind the lack of physx. it penforms about the same as a gtx460 for $30 less.

they have one at $185 on newegg after rebate

Huh, I thought all 890xx chipsets were CF.

Oops, you are correct, It does have Crossfire. Hmm. I really didn't want to buy two cards, but I suppose I could pick up another 4850.

Get a single HD5770 NOW, and then get another one later. CF doesn't take long to setup.

3 of the 15 890GX board on newegg at the moment only have 1 PCIEx16 slot.

If you don't plan on getting another card I would go for the GTX 460. If you would like it as an option in the future grab an HD5770 or save up a bit more and get an HD5850.
