Does any one have experience with installing a ssd in a HP Pavilion dv3 laptop.Does it work aoes it work well.A friend installed on in his lenovo and it improved performance 20%

I used a 64 gb kingston ssd with no problems. You can try cloning your old drive using maxblast 5.0, a free download. If that software doesn't work, check for similar software from your hardrive's website. You can use either ide or achi modes, but you must select one first before installing windows. You can't change this setting once windows is installed, or clone a drive that is set differently. Achi provides trim support, but is no faster than the ide setting.
