Hello everyone, I know this is in the wrong forum, but I need a quick answer so please forgive me!

I currently have windows 7 installed on my current hard drive. I just purchased a new hard drive. I would like to install my windows 7 on it, but windows 7 can only be on 1 computer at a time.

Before installing W7 on my new hard drive, do I need to somehow deactivate windows 7 on my current hard drive?

Thanks, and again, sorry but I am in a big hurry.

remove original drive.
Install new drive.
Install windows 7
Call Microsoft if needed. If its been more than 3 months you shouldn't have to.
Install old drive copy over data.

There is no deactivation process, so sturm's advice is really your only option. Once you get your data off the old drive, you probably want to format it anyway (and thus, no second copy that could lead to problems).
