$800-$900 CAD build

i have helped others on this forum but now i am in need of help myself so if you would please.....

i have about 800-900 dollars to spend on a good laptop/ or build my own computer, obviously i am favoring building my own but my parents are looking at getting a laptop as another option

these are the parts i have so far
AMD propus 620 ...........89
AMD 880G AM3 ........................110
HIS ATi 5770................160
OCZ fatality 500 watt...............60 (i think) the psu is out of stock
OCZ 4 GB DDR3 1066...........80
Sony optiarc DVD/CD writer.....19 x2
Antec 300 illusion case.....70
Samsung spinpoint F4 320 gig.........43
logitech standard keyboard.......20

total: $672

i don't need a mouse or monitor

my question is should i go with the propus or with a 945/55/65?I will be doing a slight overclock( 300-400 mhz) i would also like to know how i can go about overclocking the memory

and if anyone has any suggestions on a good silent keyboard that costs less, i would like to see it

and if anyone has any suggestions on alternate parts i can use for anything, i would like that info too

thanks for the help!

  1. How about this:

    ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 + AMD Phenom II X4 955
    SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB + OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W
    SAPPHIRE 100282-3SR Radeon HD 5850
    Sony Optiarc CD/DVD

  2. You'll get your ram timings from cpu-z. Look at the SPD tab. At the bottom of the window is the 'timings table' which gives you your range for each frequency.

Use Everest to benchmark the memory and also your your read/write speeds.

I think you'll find this useful - How to Overclock RAM
  3. and just to clarify, this is for the use of CAD not canadian dollars

anyway,to mosox, i can't use combos because my time of purchase is about a couple months down the road

and calguy hunk, thanks for the link

    any other suggestions?

If you plan do do CAD and similar things, you might actually benefit from the Thuban processor.

    let me see here:

$742.92 without combos. I'd add 2 more 120mm fans on the side panel.
  5. i am sorry but i can't rally go with combos right now, cuz my purchase date is in about a month and most combos disappear by then

so i mainly just looking for different brands i should consider or different parts

and i really like the antec 300 illusion so that isn't changing sorry
