Annoying noise coming from CPU area of mobo... pls help!

Hello,

I have an MSI P67A-G43 mobo and it makes this annoying whine sometimes that drives me crazy.

My system is silent (besides fan noise) when I'm in bios or running an intense game or something, but otherwise my computer makes this god damn annoying noise that makes me want to beat kittens... nah I love kitties I'll punch my wall instead....

Seriously though what the heck do you think the problem could be? Sometimes my system is silent, sometimes its ******* annoying as hell. I swore cuz I just heard that whining sound again. GOD!

Anyway.. please help!

It may be coil whine from the voltage regulation circuitry surrounding the CPU. Some coils whine, some don't. It is usually harmless, albeit annoying. You can mitigate it by putting bitumen sheets on the insides of the case, or moving the case under your desk.

I don't know if you can apply anything to the coils to reduce the whine. Maybe you can look up "coil whine"?
