Hi Gang,

Not long built my first machine. But i did something naughty, i cut back on the PSU and bought a "cheapie" one.

My system is:
Q6600 (OC'd to 3.2Ghz)
3Gb DDR2-800
HD4850 Graphics Card
500Gb SATA
640Gb SATA
ACF7P Cooler
DVD-RW
1x 18cm Case fan
1x 12cm Case fan.

I currently have a 600w EZCool power supply. But i dont really want to use it much longer if do a bit of gaming. I think it is going under stress and not providing enough power. Because when i play games, they stutter a bit, and thats only GTA IV.

What would you guys recommend as a suitable PSU for my rig?

Like they all say, i am on a budget. A very tight one!

Look forward to your replies.

Mike

Is 520w enough for my system?
How about if i was to upgrade the graphics card? I was looking to upgrade it in the near future, to something along the lines of a 5750. Would the said PSU's be powerful enough for that card?

The 5750 uses just more then half then what a 4850 uses.but then again the 5750 isn't an upgrade from a 4850 since they perform almost the same.and not all power supplies are made the same.some company will put a 600 watt label on a 400 watt power supply like your ezcool.or you get honest companies like seasonic.antec.corsair.enermax.xfx and a few others so really a Good 520 will be more then enough for even a 5870/6970 or gtx470

I have the VX450W, the 520W PSU from Seasonic is more than enough. I don't know what the GPU manufacturers are up to (especially ATI, coz they rock in making power efficient GPU's), but we may see a day when SLI/CF configs fitting into a 450W PSU!! :)
