Sandybridge GPU to boost PCIE video card performance?

I was wondering if the GPU that is on board the upcoming Sandybride cpu will boost the performance of, let's say, an HD5870 or GTX480. Obviously it wouldn't be like sli or crossfire, but I was wondering if it would enhance, or work in conjunction with, a video card kind of like the old Diamond Monster piggy back card they had back in 1997-1998.

That's going to be a no. Nothing like 'hybrid crossfire' AMD has been working with.

I wonder if somebody will come up with a work-around like they did with the P45 SLI hack. That would be kind of cool.

a hack for?
SB should support SLI out-of-the box like Nehalem, though if you mean boosting the discrete card with the IGP, the possibility of it happening is close to 0, as it would require a complete driver-rewrite or even a bridge chip like the Lucid-hydra.

Would also require Intel to work closely with AMD/Nvidia to make it happen.
That's only a little more likely than 'close to zero'.

I've vaguely heard about the ATI Hybrid set up a few months ago so I decided to look it up. If I'm not mistaken they are using a low end (GT240) Nvidia card dedicated just for physX along side an HD5870? That is awesome. When I ran the Mafia2 bench test my cpu usage was at 96% on all cores. I was wondering what was happening. Now I wonder if I replace one of my 5770's with my old 9600gt, there for eliminating crossfire, if it will take the load off the cpu and get a higher avg. fps. If so that is wicked!
