What is wrong when a external hard drive says incorrect parameter

Hello,
I removed the hard drive out of my old laptop and decided to use it as an external hard drive, so i bought a hard drive casing. The converted hard drive fell and now its aying incorrect parameter and format disk. Im a student and all my university work from 2010 is on there

The drive has most likely been physically damaged and is now unreadable, for which there is no solution other than to replace it. keeping all your data backed up to another hard drive would have protected your data against loss.

You can test the drive to see if it has failed, use "SeaTools For Windows": http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/
Be sure to test it with the Long/Extended test.
