Cooler master elite 310 case fan arrangement

I Have a coolermaster elite 310 case and it has three spots for a case fans, one in the front, in front of the hard drive cage, one on the side panel right on top of my video card, and one in the back. I have only one fan (the stock fan) and am looking to buy a couple more fans and was wondering if anyone could recommend some good 120mm case fans for around 10$. I dont need top of the line fans, but i want them to move a decent amount of air.

I was also wondering how i should arrange them once they're in my case, i know the front fan should be an intake fan, but im not sure about the side panel fan, should it be an intake or exhaust fan. This is my first build so i am sort of new to the whole fan situation.

thanks

  1. personally I find the side vent works better for me as an exhaust. I have crossfired 4870 tho.

this fan is decent, it works for me. Its not really 133 cfm tho

  2. i have a 6870 and ill probably try it as both intake and exhaust and see which works better for me. is that fan you have loud? because some of the comments say its a bit noisy
  3. its kinda noisy, but not even close compared to two 4870s. When they are anything but idle it doesnt make any difference to me, the cards are louder than anything in the case. If you want quieter, the cooler master and thermal take fans are OK. They are more quiet but move less air in my experience.
  4. i find side panel 120mm fans useless. front intake and back exhaust will give you solid air flow.
  5. I have a cooler master elite rc 310, and hd 6950 and I'd have to agree with ct1615.
Adding a 120mm as either exhaust or intake didn't affect my temps.
I ditched it, kept the font and rear fans and got quitter machine.

Does the 6950 fit there? Is there any problem at all?
