Able to connect to router via unsecured mode but not with secured mode

I have reset my router from secured mode and now i'm able to connect to router via unsecured mode but when i'm trying to set security using the software CD it searches for router connection and shows not detected try again by unplugging the power. Also i tried to connect through web using http://192.168.2.1 and http://192.168.1.1 but it shows not able to connect.
Iam able to surf internet in unsecured mode only.

please help me in setting security thanks in advance---Keva

Does your wireless adapter support the same security types as the router. WPA PSK TKIP is the usual default these days.

Also make sure SSID is being broadcast by router and that Access List (by MAC ID is turned off) and that wireless mode is mixed or 802.11g -- or n -- depending on what the wireless adapter supports.
