Hi guys,

I know that you can run 1.35V RAM on a sandy bridge rig.

However I was wondering if there are any actual benefits to this over the standard 1.5v.

Cheers

Obviously you'd use less power, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. If you can get the 1.35 ram for the same price then maybe. It would probably have slower timings, so the system will be slightly slower.

Cheers guys, will probably just get 1.5v RAM then as it is cheaper than 1.35v.

Also when i need a new system i will just buy different ram rather than trying to swap it over to a system that requires 1.35v sticks

About the only 'Future Proof' item on a PC is it's case. Otherwise my Desk, Paper Weight, and Pen Holder are about the only hold-outs.

1.35v VS 1.50v is such a ridiculously insignificant power difference that it's not worth mentioning. I'm positive the Ivy Bridge can run fine with either 1.35v or 1.50v RAM.

I would not opt for 1.35v on any current Sandy Bridge especially at Frequencies above 1333 MHz; only run >1333 MHz on P67/Z68. The only RAM that runs 'hot' are the older 1.8v+ RAM. Also, IMO the 1.35v and 'K' SB CPUs are not good company; G.SKILL doesn't recommend it either -- use the Ripjaws X is their own recommendation.

Good Luck! :)
