I just want to make sure this is a good card. I want to make sure that I can't spend this money better somewhere else.

I play Assasins Creed, BFBC2, MWF2, L4D2, and just started Crysis.

Is a GTX 460 1GB going to give me good frame rates for these games and for games that will be coming out for a decent time period? I.E. I am looking forward to the new Medal of Honor game coming out pretty soon.

I appreciate speedy responses as I am purchasing it today.

Well the GTX 470 is a GF100 GPU while the GTX 460 is on the new GF104 processor. The GF100 cards do perform well but they are also loud, hot and power hungry. The GTX 460 on the other hand has a very quiet reference cooler and is much more reasonable in terms of power/heat. The heat/power/noise factor becomes doubly important when considering SLI.
Your motherboard does support SLI which makes the GTX 460 about perfect for you IMO. It should be fantastic for your current resolution, especially when OCed and it scales extremely well in SLI when you want an upgrade. Two GTX 460s at stock in SLI are actually very close in performance to an HD5970 and they can usually OC 30%+ as well.

You can look up some benchmarks and see how it does for the games you have listed above and at your resolution you'll be playing at and if you're satisfied with the results in the benchmarks then yeah, it should be fine.

Sorry, my current resolution is 1680 x 1050 on two monitors, but I plan on switching to three 1920x's in the future (6 months). I also might pick up a third monitor and use my old 9800GTX+ to plug in that one.

Yeah, I suppose that was a dumb question. I guess I'm wondering if you guys are suggesting the 460 because its cheaper. I guess I forgot to mention I'm debating a 470, lol.

Besides being new, in what ways are the 460 better?

Wait, what do you mean? The 460 is a reference card? And the 470 isn't? I'm so confused.

For the time being I am just waiting for an EVGA 460 1GB to come in stock. I have found... other use... for the extra money ^.~ i.e. cooler master hydro cpu water cooler (here comes overclocking), artic silver 5, mouse pad, and some red LED's for my HAF 932. :)

Also because I don't feel like starting a fire in my case when I decide to SLI (which is much cheaper this way). I figure, the cooler and more effecient, the better. Isn't it 3-way SLI capable too? lol. 4-way? xD

The reference design of a card is the initial launch card designed by Nvidia or ATI themselves. Shortly after release the various card manufacturers release custom cards usually with a different fan/heatsink and sometimes on a custom PCB.
Both the GTX 460 and 470 have reference designs but they are different and use a different cooler.

Just to let everyone know, I ordered the MSI Cyclone GTX 460 1GB.

and NATURALLY the water cooler goes out of stock before I hit order -.- You'd think Newegg would keep a top seller in stock..
