How to get stuff off my external hard drive (PC) onto my mac

Hello,
I have a ton of files on my backup external drive that came off my PC. I'm now working on a Mac and I'd like to pull down at least some of the files on to my Mac but I have no idea where to start, or if I need special hardware, software...

Your talking about two completely different operating systems that use very different coding for the file system. There are options but it will be a lengthy process since I'm sure your willing to do acording to your post as to how important these files are. @BMcAlvany, Macs are able to natively read and write FAT32 partitions, and they can natively read NTFS volumes. It is only when you want to write to NTFS volumes that you will require additional utilities.
