Which integrated graphics card is best?

I'm building a computer for my friend who only plans to play light games and surf the web so I'm going with an IGC to save power, cost, and heat. So out of the ATI 3300, 4200, and 4290 which would be the best? I heard that the 3300 is better than the 4200 but I have no clue about the 4290.

The HD 3300 and HD 4290 perform very similarly, there's not much difference, I'd go with the HD 4290.
  2. The differences between all of those will be marginal. When choosing a motherboard it should pretty far down the list of deciding factors imo.
  3. alright cool thank you.
the igc wont alter how i choose a motherboard just wanted to see which would perform better.

It does actually, since the integrated graphics are, well, integrated with the board... :)

Well yes, obviously... I meant it as i wont just choose a mobo for the graphics. If i find a 3300 board that fits my friends needs more so than a 4290 i wont just choose the 4290.

  7. Well the different IGPs are specific to different chipsets. Optimally I would recommend the latest; an 880G or 890GX board preferably with both 6g/s SATA and USB3.0. The 880G boards all use the HD4250 I believe and the 890GX uses the HD4290.
  8. It would probably be worth the money to put a HD5570 on it. You'll get better performance for games, no loss of system memory for the IGP, and insignificant additional power use.
