Hi, I've heard that some x16 2.0 cards are backwards compatible but won't work on certain motherboards. I was thinking of getting a GTX 460 card and putting it in this motherboard.

And info on the card.

Crappy and old motherboard I know. I currently have a 8800 GTS on it. My intention is to get a GTX 460 to keep me gaming for the meantime until I build a new computer when I can afford it (and get a second 460 while I'm at it). All the motherboard information is there, does anyone know if it would be compatible?

My specs
Windows 7 Ultimate
700-watt power supply
AMD Athlon x2 6000+ (3.0GHz)
3gb ddr2 PC2-5300 (also planning to upgrade to 4GB 800MHz)
Creative Extreme Gamer Sound Card

Thanks in advance.

You're likely correct, but that's something I'm willing to put up with until I build a new system.
